Call it a style statement, passion, desire to do something out of the blue, or whatever you like. Waves on the Indian beaches are dancing to the tunes of wedding bells. Gujaratis have crossed the fences of lavish home weddings and have pegged their wedding tents on beaches this wedding season.
“It serves many purposes - it adds a touch of style and grandeur to the wedding, it enables the families to spend time together and ensures that all guests have a good time,” says vice-president of Cox & Kings Sanjeev Chhajer. “We are also working out marriage packages on Star Cruise, Libra at Mumbai,” he adds.
The hot destinations are beaches of Goa. A beach wedding does not turn out to be an extravagant affair. On an average Gujarati families spent Rs 5 to 7 lakh on a lavish wedding but the beach affair costs much less. The expenses are less because there are less number of guests attending the marriage outside the state.
The best part of the extravaganza is that every thing is pre-arranged by the resorts, which are also making special efforts to make it a gala event.
