If you are addicted to cigarette smoking, better take guard while you’re enjoying your trip on San Diego beaches.
Port of San Diego banned smoking at beaches and parks as the Board of Port Commissioners has approved an ordinance in this regard. The law aims to reduce the amount of litter at beaches and save tourist and visitors from harms of the passive smoking.
The new law will take effect in 30 days and in case of any violation, $100 would be fined. The prohibition will be enacted at Embarcadero Marina parks, Shelter Island Park, Harbor Island Park, Cesar E. Chavez Park, Pepper Park, Chula Vista Bayfront Park, Dunes Park and Coronado Landing Park, among others.
The board is also considering to impose ban on other areas. This is indeed a good step taken by San Diego board because smoking at public places not only affect health of people but also give way to more litter, ultimately dissuading tourists from visiting places freely.
