I am talking about free diving. Hannah Stacey, British women’s freediving champion has a stamina that others would kill for. She can hold her breath for an astounding four and a half minutes and dive without oxygen to 54m, aided only by fins.

Stacey who also works as a radio journalist with BBC Cornwall says:
I get an incredible sense of being at one with the sea and the water. I feel so happy down there that I get the weird feeling that I don’t need to breathe at all.
And when did she start? Just six years ago. In two days she was diving unaided to 30m, and her instructors were urging her to develop her natural talent. She set her first national record within three years.
Surprisingly this sport is also the best tonic for looking young. Stacey though 29 is often asked for her ID in pubs. Increased lung capacity seems to be the mantra to be young.
If you are of the naturally calm and extremely focused orientation do try out this sport!
