One thing is very common among the most popular islands that they always throng with hordes of tourists and luxury and multi-floor hotels.
This feature often spoils the natural charm of destinations and sometime tourists get annoyed with this influx and wish to escape to the unspoiled tropical island - far from the noisy world.
But the question is that where we can find it. Well, no need to agonize because I am going to tell you about such an island, which is hardly touched by the visitors until now.
PRINCIPE ISLAND nestled in a country of Sao Tome & Principe, barely seems on the map.
The island is much closer to the Europe and situated on the western cost of Africa, exactly on the equator.
This former colony of Portuguese consists of two inhabited islands: bigger Sao Tome and little Principe. Both have distinguished features while Sao Tome has developed with the passage of time where Principe - 150 km north is definitely a worth seeing place.
The dense tropical jungle coats the volcanic terrains and gets you closer to the nature. Once you reach Sao Tome, you have a choice to decide how to step in to the destination. Small commercial boats that takes 10 hours across the rough sea charges 10 USD for one way and daily twin-otter plane of Air Sao Tome takes 30 min, 130 USD round trip.
Places of interest:
The islands’ calm and empty beaches like Banana Beach located close to Roca Belo Monte are worth seeing. The old dilapidated buildings of Portuguese regime narrates tales of their colonial past. The area has also earned name for its coffee and cocoa plantations, that was done by slaves.
To be precise, this unknown destination posses beautiful locations, friendly people, remote palm-fringed beaches, colonial architecture and the tranquility for what one aspires in this hectic world.
As far as the accommodations are concerned, you have to manage, as the choice is limited. Only few restaurants are available in the region and the access of internet is also slow.
