This islands beaches are so popular that one tends to miss out the other great sights the island has to offer has to offer. Laurie D. Borman gives us a clue.

Maui: It’s a good idea to take cycling tours to enjoy this intoxicatingly beautiful land. Haleakala National Park is Maui’s main natural attraction. Sunrise Special Tour offers a great cycling package. Though you have to wake up before sunrise the breathtaking sunrise is worth the pre dawn alarm. One ends up climbing from sea level to 10,023′ in less than an hour. The area also has numerous Protea farms some of which provide lodging.

Lanai: To reach the truly remote and exclusive beaches of this region plan ahead and do take the time to book a four heel drive. A rough ride on Polihua Road ends at Polihua Beach on the island’s northern end. The beach is a prize for turtle lovers since this beach is full of turtle eggs. Remoteness means no food so carry the grub you need . You can also get to see Kanepu’u, where volcanic rocks formations are beautifull.

Molokai: This region is where Jurassic park was shot. So you have an idea of its green beauty is like. This region also covers the Kalaupapa National Historical Park and permits are required to visit.. Taking on a mule tour is a good idea.

So now you know how to get more out of your trip to Hawaii!

Since 2004, Brevard and Volusia counties bore the burnt of four hurricanes and tropical storms that resulted in severe regional flooding. But the past six months mild hurricanes have generated a ray of hope to the sea shore dwellers.

The mild weather conditions enabled administration to amass $52.6 million taxes.
Since 2005, the government has spent $38.6 million to rebuild the dunes and beaches in Brevard and $14 million to repair the shore in the New Smyrna Beach in Volusia. The funds were generated with the collaboration of the county, the state Department of Environmental Protection, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers. Apart from this, the money has come from various federal, state and local taxes.
Ron Futch, deputy chief of the Volusia County Beach Patrol said that it definitely was a big help to have no storms coming through this year.
We can hope that after the monster hurricanes had shattered the seashore of Brevard and Volusia counties and derailed the economy the region, is now gradually coming on the track. The visitors will surely like to arrive here once again.

I am talking about free diving. Hannah Stacey, British women’s freediving champion has a stamina that others would kill for. She can hold her breath for an astounding four and a half minutes and dive without oxygen to 54m, aided only by fins.

Stacey who also works as a radio journalist with BBC Cornwall says:

I get an incredible sense of being at one with the sea and the water. I feel so happy down there that I get the weird feeling that I don’t need to breathe at all.

And when did she start? Just six years ago. In two days she was diving unaided to 30m, and her instructors were urging her to develop her natural talent. She set her first national record within three years.

Surprisingly this sport is also the best tonic for looking young. Stacey though 29 is often asked for her ID in pubs. Increased lung capacity seems to be the mantra to be young.

If you are of the naturally calm and extremely focused orientation do try out this sport!

European Blue Flag is a symbol of high environmental standards, high safety services and good sanitation on beaches. And the award is only given to those who maintain high water quality that meets European legislation.

This time, all north Devon beaches and South West waters have met with all Blue Flag tests. Last year, Devon was awarded 11 Blue Flags. Apart from this, Devon also won 33 Tidy Britain Seaside Awards in 2005. Only Wildersmouth and Hele at Ilfracombe, and Combe Martin have not been able to qualify these rigorous tests.

Polluted shores and bacteria infested water of the beaches always generates troubles for the visitors. In this context, Devon beaches have a reason for being so popular amongst the holidaymakers. The two long seashores (northern side faces the Atlantic and south is towards the English Channel) boasts hundreds of beaches, which attract locals as well as visitors.

Beaches paradise of the world is also becoming health conscious. High spending cigarette smoking visitors from Japan might be deterred from visiting this island. Its new law hopes to protect people from secondhand smoke.

The Smoke-Free Hawaii Law was put into force on Thursday, it forbids smoking in all public places such as restaurants, bowling alleys, malls as well as from curb to cabin at airports. Rules have become stricter as now lighting a cigarette in partially enclosed areas, bars and less than 20 feet from doorways and windows is illegal.

Businesses in Hawaii failing to comply with the law face fines up to $100 for the first offense, $200 for the second offense, and up to $500 for each additional violation. Individual violators of the smoking law may be fined up to $50 plus court costs
Chris Kiaha, a bartender at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider in Waikiki, is worried she says:

What happened to our civil rights? We don’t have sugar cane anymore. We don’t really have pineapples. What are we going to do if we lose tourism?

Though Hawaii is trying to put across the law as a clean environment policy and not a ban it still might have a negative backlash on tourism.I feel the law was needed and will only provide a cleaner environment and fresher air to breathein.

Hamilton Island’s new owner Bob Oatley is spending more than $200 million to advance its appeal. He also plans to open a new five-star resort within the island next year. Oatley is quoted to have said

We’ve always believed that quality product will be pursued and appreciated, and this is certainly the source of inspiration for the ongoing development of Hamilton Island.

He is also developing an 18-hole golf course on Dent Island which is a few hundred metres across the water from Hamilton Island’s yacht club and will become the only island golf course in Australia. Golfers will be able to reach it by a short five-minute boat ride from Hamilton. A new multi-million dollar yacht club on Hamilton Island (Great Barrier Reef Yacht Club) already has the foundations in the ground. I sure would love to visit this island after all the changes come into force

Goa, which is a synonymous of fun and frolic and most probably the most celebrated destination of India, is now heading towards drowning deaths. Startling revelation states that at least two drowning deaths occur per week and from the last four year’s death tolls has reached 200.

From the November, onwards sea lovers start to visit Goa. Now fortunately they will not face the choppy waters of the receding monsoon, which resulted in number of drowning deaths around September.

Every year around 60, 000 to 70,000 domestic and international tourists arrive in Goa. But Goan tourism board seems paralyzed to ensure adequate security measure to the 105-kilometer long coastline.

Goan tourism department has employed around 69 lifeguards on 30 beaches in which most of them are on daily wages, they are wanting to be regularized in their services. Goan Tourism Development Corporation too admits there is a paucity of lifeguards and they will have to recruit 100 lifeguards and five supervisors who will look after the entire coastline of Goa.

However, in the root, some crazy tourists are also liable for death tolls. J Cardozo, a tourism sector employee said the sea is not to be blamed for its fury, but the people for their folly.

At last, I can say that to find out the long-lasting solutions tourists must impose self-restrictions and not let the bewitching sea take them to their deaths. And as far as the Goan tourism board is concerned it has to provide world class lifesaving measures to the tourists as soon as possible.

A report published in MSNBC states that such type of ‘procreation vacation‘ can help in a great extent those couples who are suffering from infertility. The report further tells a story of a couple, which was on the trip to Grand Bahama Island, during their three days procreation vacations they were served an age-old aribbean fertility concoction three times a day: sea moss, the Caribbean’s version of Viagra, mixed with evaporated milk, sugar and spices. In addition, they relaxed on the beach, swam in the pool, sipped pumpkin soup and enjoyed couple’s massages. Now the couple is expecting their first baby in April after taking the ‘procreation vacation’.

Well, your healthy surroundings make you blissful and reduce your stress level and the case is same with pregnancy. I appreciate the move taken by hotel industry.
